Materials:  

CD
Shuttle and Ball
Thread #20

Note:  All Long Picots (---) are 1/2" (1 cm).

Instructions:

Round 1:

R:  10 --- 10.  RW.

*  CH:  3 --- 2 --- 2 --- 2 --- 2 --- 3.  RW.

R:  10 + (to the LP) 10.  RW.

Repeat from * until 6 rings are made.

Don't Cut.

Round 2:

CH:  3 --- 2 --- 2 --- 2 --- 2 --- 2 --- 2 --- 3.

Join between next chain.  

Repeat around.  

Don't Cut.

 

Round 3:

CH:  10 - 10.

Join between next chain.

Repeat around.

Cut.

 

Round 4:

*  R:  10 + (to chain's picot) 10.  RW.

CH:  6 (vsp) 2 (vsp) 6.  RW.

R:  10 + (to same picot) 10.  RW.

CH:  10 - 10.  RW.

Repeat from * around.

Cut.

 

Round 5:

*  R:  10 + ( to center picot in long chain) 10.  RW.

CH:  10 - 10 (vsp) 8.  

Join to next picot.

CH:  8 + (to vsp) 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 (vsp) 8.

Join to same picot.

CH:  8 + (to vsp) 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 (vsp) 8.

Join to next picot.

CH:  8 + (to vsp) 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 (vsp) 8.

Join to same picot.

CH:  8 + (to vsp) 10 - 10.  RW.

Repeat from * around.

Cut.

Round 6:

R:  10 + (to center picot of long chain) 10.

R:  10 + (to center picot of long chain) 10.  RW.

CH:  5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 5.  

Join to vsp between "shell".

CH:  5 - 5 - 5 - 5.  

Join to vsp between "shell".

CH:  5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 5.  RW.

Repeat from * around.

Cut.

 

How to fray the picots:

Cut all the long picots, giving a gentle tug to each one before cuting so the picot is tight.  With a pin or the end of an embroidery scissors split each thread.  The more you split the thread, the fluffier will look.  You can also brush the picots with an eyebrow brush, taking care of not brushing the other elements.

Mount the doily in a CD (compact disc) using the center picot of the 3p's chain.
