Materials:
Shuttle and Ball
DMC Cotton Perle #8 or any thread that can be split
Picot Gauge of 1/2 inch or 1 cm
Note: The long picots are going to measure, when close, 1/2 inch or 1 cm
Instructions:
Round 1:
R: 5 - 5 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 5 - 5. RW.
* CH: 5. RW.
R: 5 + (to prev ring) 5 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 1 --- 5 - 5.
Repeat from * until you have 8 rings. Join the last chain to the base of the 1st ring.
Cut.
Round 2:
Join to any picot between rings.
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3. SLT.
R: 5 - 2 --- 2 - 5. SLT.
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3.
Join to next picot on prev round, between rings.
Repeat around until 8 point are made. Join the last chain to the beginning of the round.
Cut.
How to fray picots:
Give a gentle pul to each long picot before cutting. This gives a
tightness to the picot and you're not going to be afraid or picots
falling off. Cut each long picot, careful of not cutting any other picot or element.
With a sharp scissors o a pin start spliting the thread of the picot, one by one.
Depending of which kind of cord you're using, the spliting will be fuller or not.
For extra "flufiness" you can brush the frayed picots
with an eyebrow brush. This has to be very gentle and
take extra care of not brushing the ds or any other part of the snowflake.
