Crochet hook 1.75 mm
Tatting shuttle
Abreviations:
R: ring
Cl: Close
RW: Reverse wrk
ds: double stitch
CH: Chain
P: Picot
Instructions:
First, cover the elastic band with single crochet (sc) using the thread #10. Try to do a number of sc's divisible by 3 (example: 60, 99, etc). Fasten off.
Insert the beads in the tatting thread. I inserted the whole package because I can't say exactly how many beads I'm going to use. The amount depend of how many chains will be in the first part of the tatted scrunchy. Wind the shuttle, keeping the beads near the ball. Using the CTM start the tatting:
First tatted row:
R: 10 ds, join to sc in the elastic band, 10 ds. Cl, RW.
*CH: 10 ds, P, 10 ds. RW.
R: 10 ds, skip 2 sc, join in 3rd sc, 10 ds. Cl, RW.*
Repeat from * to * around the elastic band. Until all the sc have been used. Remeber to join the last ring to the 1st one to close the design. This round can be a little ruffle. Fasten off.
For the next row remember to insert all the beads in the ball thread, if you already haven't do it.
Second tatted row:
R: 2 ds, 7 picot separated by 2ds, 2 ds. Cl, RW.
CH: 4 ds, P, 6 ds, make 3 beaded picots separated by 2 ds, 6 ds, P, 4 ds, join to the 4th picot of previous ring, 5ds. RW.
*R: 2 ds, 3 picots separated by 2 ds, 2 ds, join to the picot in the chain of the First tatted row in the elastic band, 2 ds, mad 3 picots, separated by 2 ds, 2 ds. CL. RW.
CH: 5 ds. RW.
R: 2 ds, 7 picot separated by 2ds, 2 ds. Cl, RW.
CH: 4 ds, join to the last picot of the previous chain, 6 ds, make 3 beaded picots separated by 2 ds, 6 ds, P, 4 ds, join to the 4th picot or previous ring, 5 ds. RW.*
Repeat from * to * around, until all the picot of the first tatted rown have been used. remember to carefully join the last ring to the 1st ring to close the design.
