Blog EntryArgh! I need a break!Dec 26, '07 3:06 PM
for everyone
Please, someone give me a break.    I was happy because I have been tatting the last 3 days or so.  The movement is helping the Raynaud's on my right hand a little.  I was refilling the hot water bag and I spilled some of the boiling water over my left hand.  Burnt 3 knucles and the back of my palm.  Because my hands were a little numb I didn't feel it a lot.  But now blisters are coming out over my middle and index fingers.  The worst is the middle.  Pain, pain, pain...

I use a finger protector over my middle finger but even the protector is painful, so I wont tat until the pain is gone.

This is the doily I'm tatting.  I'm not sure if the colors are well balanced.  Anyway....  Now I'll leave it aside.
Any suggestion of what can I do for these long nights now that I can't tat or crochet?

If it blistered you should see a doctor.

I'll go to the pharmacy, that's just a few steps away. It's run by a dr and will tell him to check it. It looks like 1st degree burn. Dang!

I hope he chokes on it LOL

Anyway, I just said I hope your hands feel better soon and that I like to read a book when I get the chance so maybe you can curl up with a good book until you can finish your doiley inshallah.
Also, I wish I had the talent to knit and crochet and stuff like that (I am not familiar with tatting) but I can barely sew a straight line on a sewing machine.
And, the doiley you're making looks very pretty mashallah.

OUCH! Burns are terrible, but the doily is looking good anyway. So it's time for a (painful!) rest, like the other person said, read a book, listen to some good music, plan the next project. Keep an eye on the weather as I heard this morning that another snow storm is coming and as high a 8 inches is expected.

I woke yesterday morning to find that my computer was on the fritz, took it in today and it cost me $89, ouch! I'm broke enough right now as it is. Well, got it back already and have it all set up, by myself I'll have you know. My back is now killing me however. So now I to have to find something too do to rest my back for a while. Good Luck and take care, hope all is better soon.

That sounds so painful. I have spent the past few nights sorting out my material cupboard, and deciding which fabrics go together for the next lot of dresses I plan to sew. It must be so frustrating not being able to do your craft. I know how much it gets to me when I can't do any. Your tatting is beautiful. It is one thing I have always admired yet never tried. I only mastered crochet and sewing.
