Blog EntryMotif 11 - Polish FlowerJan 11, '08 7:33 AM
for everyone

This cute little flower is a pattern from Jan Stawasz.  He is a great Polish tatter.  Yes, a man!!!  Recently he publish a book with his designs.  You can visit his web site for information about his book and his tatting method.  There are 2 pictorials with flowers.  I want to make them.  So I'll be doing the flowers and use them for the challenge.  I'm not in a good mood to design.  Well, more of a lazy mood here.    But at least I'm tatting.

I love it when men do this kind of thing. It's so sad that society discourages them.

I came across a man in an online knitting group who is this big burly truck driver. (at least in his profile picture he looked big and burly) He was saying anytime he had a layover he could be found in the cab of his truck knitting. The thought of that just made my day. I've been trying to get my husband (also a truck driver) to take up some sort of craft for him to work on while he's on the road, but he won't for fear that he'll be made fun of. :-(

My 1st ex-husband is a truck driver and he learned how to tat while I was on the truck with him, but his is not the crafty person. Now my actual husband wants to learn to tat and to crochet. He wants to make his own sweaters! lol I must sit with him soon to teach him before he repents. ;-)

I'm back to say that I love the Polish Flower, hmm, I wonder if that is because I am half Polish! I have Jan Stawasz's book and just haven't had time to do anything yet, darn....

Very pretty Wally! I agree I really Jan's work too! Hmmm I wonder if this pattern is simple enough I can do. I LOVE that purple color you have there!
