for everyone
This week on Picture Perfect the theme is Red.  I have been thinking what to post in this week's challenge.  I'm not a person that likes the red color.  Never wear it and things that are red usually don't impress me.  For a few exceptions like this one:

This is the "Parque de Bombas" (Fire Station) in Ponce, PR.  It was constructed in 1883 and is still in the original place.  It's been transform into a museum now and inside you can see a couple of original tank trucks and several models of the station's designs among other things, everything related to the fire station and firemen.  It's famous not only because of it's age but for the colors red and black.  Ponce is called also the "Regal city" because of it's beautiful buildings, parks and gardens.  Visiting the city is like been transported to the old colonial era.  Ponce was also the 1st capital of Puerto Rico and was named after Juan Ponce de Leon, the 1st governor of the island.

You can find more photos of Ponce in this album.

I must say I also avoid red. I have a lot of pink tones in my skin and look like a huge red tomato every time I try on anything red. Though I must say I LOVE my red tool box. I am saving for another to keep my crochet things in. This building is just spectacular. Thankyou for sharing this info I love teaching the children snippets of info like this that is not directly related to lessons.

It had been taken down and put into storage, from what my uncle tells me, and one of my great uncles, Jose Ruiz, I think it was, was instrumental in getting it put up again. Pardon my English! I am so glad it's there... It looks even MORE red when you see it in person. Thanks for sharing that.

What a colorful building - like Sharon says, what could be redder than a fire station?!!
That was a wonderful history of the building, by the way, and of your city as well.
This is my first PPF, so you're welcome to drop by and see what I'm up to.

What a neat fire station... My ex- husband is on the fire station where we live and have viewed and loved a few fire stations that are old and some original pumpers and trucks... NWO Fireman's Convention is always a site to see too... A 2 or more hour long parade of firetrucks, ambulance, and bands... It is awesome...
Well, thanks for the STOP to my little town. I hope the police did not bother you too much. Hope you enjoyed your ice cream... lilangelwolf

That building is really interesting. I especially like the black "gingerbread" at the top. And maybe the red works for you because it's muted. Anyway...thanks for sharing. Good shot and interesting story.
