Blog EntryPicture Perfect - ShadowsFeb 21, '08 9:22 AM
for everyone
This week on Picture Perfect the theme is Shadows.  It's getting more challenging each time.  Specially now that my card reader damaged and I  can't get the photos from the card of my camera to transfer them to the pc.  But I have tons of photos saved on a CD and the external HDD.

Anyway...  I decided to use this week this photo I took on 2006 in San Juan, PR.  This is the Park Luis Muñoz Rivera. This huge tree is called Ceiba and they grow in strange forms and live centuries.  This one is pretty "young" but have been in the park at least for a century.  It has lasted years of storms and hurricanes.  The park is beside the beach.  These trees offer a lovely and cool shadow in summer, and on rainy days you can take cover under them.  The woman taking cover under inside the tree's shadow is my mom.  There's one Ceiba tree, famous in PR because has over 300 years old and it still as lovely as a century ago.  I'll be traveling soon to PR and will go and take photo of that one.

Thanks for looking!

Is it a visit or are you moving back?
I will be visiting like for 6 months to visit family and doctors. I really need to keep with my treatments and records. I'm having problems with my SS pension and is because I'm living here in Egypt. They (SS) are threatening me to take it away again.

Hey, what a great coincidence.
There are Ceiba trees in some parts of my hometown. Very COOL !!!
There are some of them standing proudly near the city's post office. I would stand under its shadow whenever I'm waiting for a public transport, cos the air is breezing so freshly there. Lovely !

Thx for stopping by at mine.
Have a fun weekend there (^_^)v

If a century is young, how many centuries is considered to be the old one? Gosh... sure nice to be able to see one of those antique trees. I remember seeing several down here that are hundreds years old and it was a 'Wow!!'
They don't look like this one you have here though. I like the way the branches kind of spreading widely to every angle around the trunk. What a cool tree! To be standing under its shadow is a special moment indeed! Thanks for sharing!

Old tree like that one is always captivating. So strong eventhough it's getting old. I wish I could be like that, you know. Getting older means getting stronger and more functional.

What a beautiful tree! I love trees. Just to be able to touch one. They have a life force that is so powerful. To me, they hold so much wisdom.
