This is the detailed tail of the book mark I made using Clark's thread #30. To make a tail like this I 1st make a zig zag chain of 1:1. This mean I make a normal ds and then I make an unflipped ds. This chain is also called lock chain. The chain will be lock in place and won't stretch. You can find a tutorial
here. Then after I got a long chain I make a ring with my main color and then with the "ball" color make a chain around the ring. The long strings are very long picots than when I finish the tail I cut them and trim them even.
I usually don't use a picot gauge for these long picots. I make the 1st one and then, with the use of the shuttle I make the 2nd and so on using the 1st as a guide. You could use a picot gauge (1-3" when picot is close) or the inner tube of a paper roll is nice too. A plastci card (credit card type) makes also a nice picot gauge. It doesn't matter too much that the picots are not even. When you finish the tail then cut them and trim them.

esta pagina puedes encontrar un tutorial de como hacer esta cadena. Despues de que hice la cadena del largo deseado entonces hice un anillo con la lanzadera y una cadena alrededor del anillo. Los hilos largos son los picots que despues de que los hice los pique por el medio y los cuadre.
Usualmente yo no uso nada para hacer los picots largos. Yo hago el primero del largo deseado y luego con ayuda de la lanzadera hago el resto. Pero si quieres usar alguna medida puedes cortar un pedazo de carton (1-3" cuando el picot este cerrado) o el interior de un rollo de papel es bueno para esto. Tarjetas plasticas (como las de creditos) hacen tambien unos guias de picot muy buenos y durareros. No importa si los picots no quedan exactamente parejos. Luego de que el trabajo este terminado, se cortan para emparejarlos.
