Brazilian Artisan working a blouse on the "Tenerife Lace" technique
Taken by Wally Sosa 2008
Kodak C310

This week in Picture Perfect the theme is Magical.  To my delight, today I was able to walk a little more and mom wanted to go to the International Artisans Festival in Old San Juan.  I think there's nothing more magical that been in an international festival.  Visiting all the kiosks with artisans of different parts of the World and appreciate their beautiful crafts. You can hear the different accents, the tourists of different countries and even music from different parts of the world.

This photo accompanying the post is of a Brazilian lacer doing Tenerife Lace.  I'm always in awe with the laces.  I found it so magical how a small, thin and may be insignificant thread, with the help of a needle or other tool and the skill of the lacer, and transform it into an art masterpiece that will last for years to come, even after the lacer is no more in this world.

If you want to see all the photos from the Festival you can see them in this album.

This was a trip from the church that my BIL ministers. This is right in the center of the island, famous for the coffee and Tainos remains.

Yesterday we didn't make a lot here in Cayey.  During the day a cousin of my dad went to visit my dad's aunt (kinda of an inbreed story here I don't wanna talk about now...) and she spent almost all day until early afternoon talking.   I don't know very well the extended family of either side (mom's or dad's) so while she was talking like a parrot I was organizing the photos on the laptop.  LOL  After she went then dad decided to go out of the house. We went to see the Plaza at night and eat ice cream.  I chose Cake Ice Cream and my sis and dad ate Pistachio Ice Cream.  They were very yummie.

Today Saturday we spent more time out visiting 2 near municipalities: Aibonito and Cidra.  I took TONS of photos and if my sister gives me a break with MY Laptop then I'll transfer the pics and post them tomorrow.

My sister Naida and me are going to visit dad this weekend.  May be I'll be offline is I cna't find a connection number in my dad's area.  But I already packed my pc and the camera.   Hmm...  I'm getting worry.  The fisrt thing I pack when I go out for awhile is my Tatting stuff, then the pc and/or camera, my video games and THEN the clothes.  Is this someting normal or I'm just too crazy?  LOL

Spaz

I'll be taking more pics to add to the Cayey Photo Album and I'll try to convince my dad to take us to the Cidra Lake.  I haven't been there in YEARS!!!

Today I went with mom to the Orchids Festival.   I love to go because I have the opportunity to see this fascinating flower.  I took my new cam with me and took 40 photos in total!  All of them with pretty, exotic and weird orchids.  My mom cultivate them as a hobbie and she has some pretty one.  Not as exotic as the one in the show this year.  This year the mayor attractions were the Black Orchids.  There were several varieties of black orchids in different sizes.

Mom got 3 different orchids:  A small and white-ish one, a golden yellow medium size and a small black-ish purple one.  The only one with flowers is the black-ish purple that will have 3 flowers in a few days.

I uploaded all the pics to an album and the link is here.  Also you can see the album searching for the Orchids Festival Ablum on the "Shared Photos" on the top page.

Today I went to the Old San Juan City. I really love the city. It has all the glorious feeling of the old colonial days, but also has a lot of shops for all taste and pockets ($). We went because my sister Letty just bought a new car, a RAV4 '06. Really cool!!! So she, her husband, mom and me went to San Juan. We spent a few hours and walked thru the streets near the Fortaleza (where the Governor lives) and to the Paseo de la Princesa (Princess' Boardwalk). We ate Piraguas (Shaved Ice), mine was "cream" flavor. Very delicious but geesh! The price has become so high, it cost $2.00. I still remember when they cost only 50 cents. Am I so old? Image

Here are some of the photos. If you want ot see them all you can go to my photo album called San Juan Feb. 2006

This is me in front of one of the many small fountains around the city. We ate the Piraguas in this corner.

This is my most favorite of the fountains. Is the biggest one in El Paseo de la Princesa. The statues represent the 3 races; African, Spaniard and Tainos. Puerto Ricans are a mix of these 3 races.

I love to make Turismo Interno (Inner Turism?)... Anyway, I love to visit many historical places in the island. San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico and it's where the turists and cruises arrive first to the Island.

Wait until I get my own pc and I'll post tons of photos from my favorite places in the Island!
